Down the Road is a collection of works by Artist Jenny Zhang. In her first solo show, Jenny shares her interpretations of Chicago’s streetscapes through captivating mixed media.

This show will be interactive, so you can immerse yourself in the art and engage with the creative process… Get ready to share your own story!

About the Artist:

Jenny Jing Zhang is a China-born, Chicago-based architectural designer, artist, illustrator, and educator.

Jenny graduated with a Master's degree in Architecture from Texas A&M University. To this day, her architectural training shapes her sketch explorations, mirrored by her use of sketching as an essential design tool as an architectural designer working in Chicago. Her specialty is freehand ink drawings with light watercolor expression.

Inspired by the quote from Paul Klee - "A drawing is simply a line going for a walk" - she enjoys using loose lines and letting the line guide her on the paper.

Jenny joined Urban Sketchers Chicago in Oct. 2016 and volunteered for the Symposium of 2018 hosted by UskChicago. She taught workshops at UskChicago Seminar 2019 and 2022. In 2022, Jing was awarded a Fellowship to reside and conduct urban sketching in Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy.
